Property owners who experienced at least 15% damage are entitled to file for a “Temporary Exemption for Qualified Property Damaged by Disaster. This pertains to physical damage to property that consists of tangible personal property used for the production of income, an improvement to real property or manufactured home that is used as a dwelling.
The property must be located in an area declared by the governor to be a disaster area following a disaster. Governor Abbott declared Kendall County a disaster area on July 5, 2025. Taxpayers have 105 days to file for the exemption with the deadline being October 18, 2025.
